A Loan Origination System (LOS) is a software solution that receives, evaluates and processes loan applications. The loan origination process entails the first half of the lending lifecycle, all from the time a borrower submits a loan application until it is approved for disbursement.

A Loan Management Software (LMS) handles the various aspects of managing loans once they have been originated and approved. Simply put, an LMS handles all the activities until the borrower fully repays the loan.

Banks and Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) collaborate with channel partners such as DSAs, DDSAs, DSEs, Business Correspondents (BC) to enhance their business reach and customer base. Channel partners earn commissions on loans or insurance products they sell on behalf of these financial institutions. This commission-based structure motivates them to perform and aligns their interests with those of the banks and NBFCs, creating a mutually beneficial and long-term relationship. Co-lending is a financing arrangement in which Banks and NBFCs (including Housing Finance Companies) jointly provide loans to borrowers. The lenders collaborate to provide a single loan to the borrower, sharing the risk and profits associated with the loan. There are 2 co-lending models in practice, namely CLM-1 and CLM-2.

Direct Assignment (DA) is a type of asset-backed securities (ABS) transaction. ABS are financial instruments similar to bonds and contracts that represent a claim on cash flows from a pool of underlying assets. In the context of the lending business of the Banking industry, the ABS transaction that Direct Assignment functions upon is loan assets.

SimSmart is a solution to manage direct assignment activities for both buy and sell side.
It is a modular solution which has separate modules for pre & post deal activities.
While pre-deal activity focuses on originator creation, deal details and agreement with respect to incomes and losses and cherry picking to finalize the deal, post-deal activity focuses on monthly reconciliation, DPD calculation and NPA tracking. An accounting module ties both together by passing accounting entries which can then be handed off to the core system. SimSmart becomes the LMS for direct assignment business.
